Another Week

Happy Sunday,

Another week of up and downs for me. I know my daughter is progressing nicely but I'm having a very difficult time dealing with the fact she has such a long hard journey a head and I can't do any of it for her. This is hers to do alone. She is amazing everyone with what she is able to accomplish. She can stand and pivot to her chair with the help of two people. One on each side of her. She is eating pureed foods and able to drink with think it. They were talking about having her trake removed Monday morning as long as there were no incidents over the weekend. The feeding tube will remain as she is not eating very much of the pureed foods and they are still giving her the ensosure (I think that's what it's called) through her feeding tube for 12 hours along with protein and her meds. Until she can eat enough on her own to get all the nutrients she needs. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes for her. They are truly making a difference.

This week I did force myself to do some coloring. So I colored the following page from "Color Beautiful Patterns & Designs" I used Crayola Twistables Color Pencils. They are no Spectra Noir Pencils but they do not need to be sharpened and easy to use.

I have faithfully written in my Fauxbonichi journal everyday since April 15th when I started it. I also completed two sets of JAMs. I had them since the end of June and told myself it's not fair to keep them any longer. The other two sets I received I will pass on for someone else to finish. I'm not quite ready to get back into doing them just yet.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week and please continue to send prayers.

Something to Relax

Happy Sunday,

I still do not have any crafty projects to share this week but I hoping to  get the crafty bug back. I purchased some adult coloring books to help me relax. I haven't colored in them yet but I think I will pretty soon. I need to do something to keep me occupied but yet I don't feel like doing anything. I thought maybe just coloring would help. These are the books I ordered.

My daughter is making very good progress. She has been moved to a rehab facility where now all the hard work begins. She is talking somewhat and we do understand what she is saying. It takes a lot of effort and energy for her to do so and she gets tired very easy. She still is in a lot of pain and through it all she is being such a trooper. I still feel so helpless that I can't do anything for her except hold her hand, cheer her on and be there when she needs me.

I still ask for continued prayers to help her stay strong and get through this next journey. Our family appreciates all the prayers coming her way and would like to thank everyone for their support.

The Power Of Prayer

Good Morning,

I would like to thank everyone who has been praying for my daughters recovery and ask that you continue to send more prayers her way. I feel "The Power Of Prayer" is truly helping her with this difficult journey.

I would also like to share an update on her progress.

She was moved from ICU to an ICU step down room today. We met with the team of doctors who have been amazed with her progress. They say she still has a long long road a head of her and cannot guarantee any outcomes, but with the progress they have seen so far they are very hopeful that she will continue to improve.

Thanks so much for the support you have shown, it is greatly appreciated.

Asking for a Favor

Good Morning,

This week I do not have a crafty project or any photos to share. I am just going to ask everyone for a favor and send my daughter Tammy a little prayer. She was in a very serious car accident and can use all the prayers and well wishes she can get.

Thanks

Flowers

Happy Sunday,

With the weather being so nice and me spending so much more time outside I haven't been doing a lot of crafty things.

So for my share this week, I took some pictures of the flowers that are blooming around my yard. I haven't seen any humming birds yet but I'm sure they will be coming.

Baby Boy Mini Star Themed Galaxy

Happy Sunday,

Today I am sharing a mini album I made as custom order. It's for a baby boy and had to be themed stars. They did not want the traditional cutesie papers so I made some gelli print backgrounds. I used the dylusions sprays and then coated with mod podge fixative. Then I added the stars with a stencil and acrylic paint. Because the back ground papers are so busy I chose to use a plain 4.5x6.5 base where they can add a full 4x6 picture. I faux stitched around the matte base and outlined the yellow stars. It's hard to see in this video. The book is set up to do a page each month. It started to look like a galaxy so I went with it.

Beautiful

Happy Sunday,

This week I am sharing a simple layout I did using pictures of our clematis and water iris. They bloomed so nice this year I had to take a picture of them. I went through my stash and found this scrapbook kit that I purchased for $1.00 when our local scrapbook store went out of business. The colors were perfect so I just threw the page together.

Colored Flames

Happy Sunday,

This week I am sharing a layout I created of our Saturday Night Fire.

Top layout...
Top left photo - Cody and I
Top right photo - Me, Jim & Dave
Bottom left - Dave and his marshmallow torch
Bottom middle - Me and my logo - The logo on the hoodie says " At The Comeau's Campfire Friends and Marshmallows Get Toasted At The Same Time" Comeau is my last name, I'm sure you figured that out.
Bottom Right -  Dave just relaxing
Bottom layout...
I purchased these fire packets that turn your flames colors. I got them from LTD Commodities. They came a 5pack for $4.95. We had every color of the rainbow in the flames. It was so cool. I'm going to have to pick some more of these up for next time. All the journaling was talking about the flames, where I purchased them and how to use them.

Two of a Kind

Happy Sunday,

Like father like daughter, I think that's how the saying goes. I guess my son is teaching my granddaughter early to have a love for cars. No he didn't get her the cute little Barbie car he had to get the sporty one that looked like his. Either way she loves it.

A visit to the Vineyards Mini Album

Happy Sunday,

Today I am sharing a 6x6 mini album in the works. It will be an ongoing project as I visit some of the CT Vineyards.  I wanted to make a small album of the Vineyards we go to and have a picture of the bottle of wine we bring home with us. I thought this would be the best way to do it.

The CT Wine Trail brochure has 25 vineyards listed. I figure I could cut that out each time we visit a vineyard and add it to my page. The brochure and receipts can go in the center of the pocket.

I still plan on adding more to the cover and things come to me.

Mini Album for Logan

Happy Sunday,

This weeks project is a mini album a co-worker asked me to make for his daughter who is having a baby.

I used My Minds Eye Stella Rose Collection papers from a 6x6 paper pad. To strengthen where the bird bands are I cut a 3/4" strip of the same paper pattern and added it to each page. I used the same circle set for each of the 12 months and used the same background paper for the journaling blocks so it would all tie together. I also stamped and colored a little critter/animal for each page.

Fauxbonichi Journal Travel Bag

Happy Sunday,

As many of you know I am a huge You Tube Viewer. I watch You Tube more than I watch TV. I have about 50 favorites I tune into faithfully. Well about a month ago I came across a YouTuber talking about a Fauxbonichi  (a cheaper version of the Hobonichi Japanese Style Journal). It really caught my attention, looked like a lot of fun and something that I had to try so I ordered the MiquelRuis gridded journal from Barnes and Noble for $9.95.

This is were the fun begins...

I had my journal for over a week and didn't know where to begin. I watched watched more and more You Tube videos on setting up to actual flip throughs on pages others have completed.  In the end I just decided to stop thinking so much and just do something so I did. I decided to just keep it unstructured and do what I feel at that moment.

Here's a quick side view of the pages I did. I actually journaled more than I thought I would. I think with having the pages with the grid it was easier to break up sections with colors, stickers, stamps, doodles etc. it's not so over whelming. I actually look forward to jotting down about my day, thoughts or feelings. I'll color, draw and stamp if I feel something fits I add it in.

Now after doing this I started thinking it would be good to get all my old stickers and ephemera together, you know the ones that you would never use on scrapbook pages but really don't want to throw away and keep them with the journal. Then I started thinking I need pens, markers, color pencils, water color pencils, and stuff to use in the book. That's when I remembered I purchased a purse from a consignment shop about two years ago to use for my art journals and supplies. I pulled it out of the closet and started filling it. Now I can take this with me outside, when I travel or just upstairs when I want to work on it and have everything I need.

This was the bag I purchased I think for $5.00 at a consignment shop.

Here's how everything fits in it.

Here's all the stickers and ephemera.

Glue dot sheets, washi tape, glue stick, pencil sharpener & scissors.

I used the Crystal Light containers to separate the pens, markers and pencils. These are sets I purchased when I first started crafting and since have bought some better quality supplies so these were really not being used but the hoarder in me could not get rid of them. Now I'm glad I didn't because they work perfect for this travel bag.

I was going to try and make a video of all this but after four failed attempts I gave up and did the pictures. Once I get a few more pages done I will do an actual flip though of the journal so you can see my progress.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Happy Sunday,

So as the saying goes... "April Showers Bring May Flowers" is a challenge at the FaceBook group Post Your Project.

Here's my take on the challenge. I did a journal page. I used Gelatos for the background. Stamped the houses and flowers with StazOn Ink and colored them in with Faber Castell Big Brush Markers. Then used Inktense Block shavings to color some Liquitex Modeling Paste and with a Prima Raindrop Stencil made the raindrops.

Water Color Crayons

Happy Sunday,

Today I want to share a journal page I made using my

What I did was wet the page and then wet my brush and pulled the color off of the crayon and let it drip and smear on the page. Some areas I let the colors run and in others I dried between layers. I tried to turn the pink blobs into flowers. I think I should have stamped a flower rather than try to draw as you can see I don't draw very well.

I was inspired to try this technique from watching CreationsCeeCee on you Tube. She did this painting and hers came out beautiful mine not so much but the important thing is I had fun trying.
