Another Attempt At Quilling

After watching the tutorials at http://www.myquillingnest.com/ I wanted to give quilling another try using the tips that Linda spoke about during her tutorials. They really worked. I could still use some practice but this card came out much better than the last one I made. Thanks Linda!

Pumpkin Card

I made this card to send to the girls in our corporate office. I used the Cricut Cartridge Demask Decor and set the size at 4. There are 6 layers to this card 4 of them are with the pumpkin. I offset the pumpkin just slightly with each layer so the top layer would end up in the middle. Then I used some Stickles to add a little sparkle.

If you would like to link up your project to Made It Myself Monday at Alex's Blog just click this link http://www.youhadmeatcraft.com/ and post your project.

Another Birthday Card

This card was made using the Floral Embellished Cricut Cartridge set at 5.5. I used some jewels just to give a little sparkle. I set the butterfly off the card to give some different dimension.

Birthday Card

Here's a birthday card I made using the FLORALS EMBELLISHED Cricut Cartridge set at 2.75. After I put the butterfly together I used Perfect Pearls Spray to give it some shimmer. You can't tell by the picture but there are butterflies and swirls embossed on the purple background paper.

Post Your Project

This will be my very first "Link Up Party" that I will be hosting. I'm not sure that I will be doing it correctly or if even the links will work correctly but I'm going to give it a try.  So I'm counting on my Crafty Blogger Friends to help me do a test run. You can post any project that you made new or old in any theme that you like. If anyone see's that I'm missing something or forgetting something please let me know.

Now for my project....

This was a card I did for a Craft It Forward Swap. I had a lot of fun making this. This was back when I was new to scrapbooking, cardmaking, tag making and was just getting involved with different craft groups etc. If I remember correctly, we were suppose to use up our scraps to make something and pass it on and this is what I came up with.

Now how about sharing some of your creations.

Thanks so much!
Lori

Christmas Card

Here's a Christmas card I made for the "Card A Day Blog Challenge" and "Made It Myself Monday".  Just link over to http://cardadayblog.blogspot.com/  or http://www.youhadmeatcraft.com/ and post your project.

For my card I used red cardstock and a red satin ribbon. To make the tree I used the  winter frolic cricut cartridge some jewels for bling, stickles glitter glue for sparkle, and to make the snow flakes I used the Martha Stewart snowflake corner punch. I used a tearing ruler to rip the white paper to make the snow. You cant really tell from the picture but the edge has a lot of the paper fiber showing.

Scrap Happy Day!

Scrap Happy Day! Had a great day scrapbooking with Claudine & Robin. I completed 3 two page layouts. We only stopped to have supper and that was French Onion Soup with Cheesy Garlic Mozzarella Baguettes. Was so yummy!

Dave working on the back half of the camper.

Dave started replacing the frame on the back half of the camper. This was the section where the toilet was. It was not as rotted out as he thought it was going to be.

jUST pROVING a pOINT

This was a fun page to make. I have a Kodak Easy Share Point & Shoot camera and Dave has a Sony DSLR. Dave seems to think the better the camera the better the pictures. I say the better the photographer the better the pictures. So we each took a picture of each other taking a picture of the other.  His picture came out slightly blurry and the color night quite so crisp. My picture came out much clearer with crisper color.

What I used to create this page....
Gypsy
Cricut Cartridge "Pack Your Bags"
Peachy Keene Stamps
Camera Stencil
Camera Stamp
Ticket Stamp
Gel Pens
Paper Punch
Sticker Letters

ZenDoodle

Just a little doodle I did while hubby was watching tv.

Our Weekend Getaway!

We had the perfect weekend in New Hampshire. The weather was spectacular. We were in southern New Hampshire so the leaves are just starting to turn and the warm weather felt like it was summer not fall. This is my favorite time of the year. I would go back north every weekend until all the leaves have fallen and everything turn brown. Can't convince hubby of that.

Tonights Project

I wanted to give those 3D flowers I made for the wedding mini album another try. This time I used one sheet of 12x12 paper with a large rose print that covered the entire paper. I cut four sets of four flowers with the Mothers Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge graduating from 3.00, 2.75, 2.50, 2.25. I added the netting between the flower layers using a quick dry clear tacky glue. Added pink yarn to the buttons before I glued them to the flowers.

The second project was made with patterned paper I took from my scrap drawer and cut out using the Demask Decor Cricut cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. I appreciate all feedback.

A Post on FaceBook by Delphine Fieberg

I felt this is so worth reposting. Read to the end.

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "

Made It Myself Mondays Week 17

Good Morning,

This week I made some dimensional flowers to put in a wedding album I'm making.
I used the Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge and scraps of patterned paper.

I forgot to take pictures before I placed the flowers in the album so your going to see corners of the mini album, sorry.

After the flowers were cut I sprayed them with Perfect Pearls And Glimmer Mist. I used the yellow to tone down the blue in paper and the white pearl to give it some shimmer.

While they were wet I took the layers for one of the flowers and scrunched them up in a ball to get them all wrinkled. Opened them back up and let them dry. After they dried I put them together with a brad. I think I will be making tons of these flowers just to have on hand. They were so easy and so much cheaper than buying them premade at the store. I am going to try to add different materials between the layers to get different looks. I'll post my progress.

Now, if you would like to show off your project just visit Alex's Blog at "You Had Me At Craft" an link up.

Happy Crafting!
