Retirement Card

Hi,

I wanted to show you a retirement card I made for Stan, our UPS driver. His last day is this Friday. He loves fishing and always talks about it. I figure I would use my Father Day cartridge and make the fishing bag and poles. I used my ticket stamps to stamp the sentiment and inked the edges. I had some fish left over from my Alaska sticker pages that worked great for this card. I used a snakeskin font on the inside of the card for the message. On the back I used a stamp it picked up for a $1. It says....

" This card was made by hand.
If you throw it away those same
hands will make a doll in your
image and stick pins in its butt."

I thought it was pretty funny. I would not use this on every card I make but for ones I know would appreciate the humor.

The Joke Is On Me.

Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas.

Thought I might share a little story with you. I have 4 crock pots (slow cookers) in various sizes. QVC had one that I do not have it has a second dish that sets inside the bottom dish and it has two sections. I really like it,  so I bought it a few weeks ago.
My husband asked what I need another crock pot (slow cooker) for when I already had 4 of them. I told him you can never have to many. They always come in handy.
Before we were going to my in-laws to celebrate Christmas eve we exchange gifts with my kids first. So when my kids arrived and we started to exchange gifts I opened  the gift my son bought for me. It was a crock pot (slow cooker). I then opened the gift my daughter bought for me and it was a crock pot (slow cooker). So I'm thinking ok this is awkward but I say thank you and proceed to open my next gift. This one was from my husband. I start taring the paper back and NO WAY..... a double crock pot (slow cooker). Now I'm rolling on the floor laughing along with the kids and my husband. "The Joke Was On Me" He had called the two of them and told them to get me a crock pot (slow cooker) as a joke. They got me pretty good. How funny????
The kids actually got me and the hubby a 32" flat screen tv and my hubby got me the cricut expression. I also received some small little items, lotions, scrapbook stickers etc.
What a way to remember Christmas eve 2011 except with my new nickname Crock Pot Queen (Crack Pot Queen).

Had to Share

Good Morning,

Ginney Edison Juarez had this posted on her Facebook page and I wanted to share it. I thought is was very cute.

T'was the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wonderin what Santa, brought just for me;
could it be card stock, chipboard or lace?
A new Cricut? I said with a smile on my face!
And that's when i heard him...''HI SANTA,'' I said.
''You know good little girls should be in their beds''.
"I know I should, Santa, and now I've been caught!
But I was excited, to see what you brought.
"Well, lets take a look in this room where you work."
Then he shook his head quickly and left with a jerk!
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear...
"You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year!"

How stinkin cute is that?  And how true?
Thanks Ginney Edison Juarez for sharing this with us.

Some More Christmas Cards

Hi,

Today I worked on a few Christmas cards for my niece Megan and nephews Justin & Nick I really like how the stockings came out. I used the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge. The stocking had some presents and a candy cane coming out of the top but I cut them off. I thought for the guys it was a bit to fufuee. For Megans card I used a stamp and colored it with my Copics and added the ribbon. Outlined with a white gel pen and TADA all done.

Tripp ( A Brave Little Soul )

There was a beautiful poem written for Tripp and his family by John Alessi. For those of you who haven't seen my last post, Tripp is a very special little boy suffering from EB. Please click on the link below for more information.

This family can use all the prayers we can send. It doesn't cost anything, you don't have to go anywhere. It's just a few minutes of your time. Then pass the information on to others with hopes more and more prayers will reach this family.

Thanks for your time,
Lori

Blue Jay

Good Morning,

Looking out my kitchen window this morning there was another little visitor. Last week Dave was able to get a great picture of a Cardinal and today I got a pretty good shot of a Blue Jay. Now if only they would visit at the same time. I always tease Dave that I take better pictures with my point and shoot camera than he does with his DSLR. In this case I think his came out better and the zoom he has is much better than mine. My picture is not that bad but not as clear as his. When I zoomed in at the max I had a had time keeping the little green box around the subject cause it kept moving around trying to stay in focus.

The birds love this bush. I don't know what kind of bush it is. We had purchased a bunch of $1.00 clearance bushes from Lowes years ago. They looked dead at the time but Dave wanted the challenge of  bringing them back to life. They were about 1' tall and all dried out and leafless. But for a $1 he said why not. Now they are all about 12' tall and about 6' wide full of leaves in the summer and have dark berries in the fall and winter that attract the birds. They give us great privacy in the summer too.

This guy looks like he was posing for a picture.

Hello Fellow Bloggers,

I wanted to share a photo my husband took of a cardinal while playing with some setting on his camera.
You can tell he's got a dirty beak from eating the berries.
Or maybe he's a she cause of how fat it is.

Hello Card

Today I used Copic Markers for the first time. I created this card for Pauline. I really like the way they color and as for the blending,  I think I need more colors to see how that will work out. I did place an order from Scrapmart.com for 16 more markers. I hope Pauline likes it.

Any good Tips?????

I just purchased my first Copic Markers.

My local scrapbook store Wiggles & Giggles is having a great sale today. The Copic Markers are buy one and get one 50% off so I figured now would be the time to try them out.  I keep hearing how great these markers are but you have to use them correctly.  What is the correct way to use them? Any tips?

Floral Embellishment

I made this Floral Embellishment to post on Listia. http://www.listia.com/auction/2894228-floral-embelishment

I started listing items on here to gain points so I can use the points to purchase other neat items people make. It's kinda like ebay but there is no money involved. It's also a good way to get rid of items you no longer want and find items that you might like to have.

Our Ordeal From Winter Storm Alfred

Saturday October 31st I went to work as I usually do. I know they were talking about a NorEaster coming in later in the day. We had went and did our shopping and got our gas on Friday so we could just be home over the weekend. When I got home from work it had just started to snow big huge flakes. It was so pretty with all the white flakes coming down and the colorful foliage in the background.

And the snow continued to fall and fall and fall. It started to weigh everything down.

The large tree branches started falling and the power went out. We had branches falling all night on our roof. We were so lucky they didn't come  through the skylight or through the roof. I think when they fell they landed sideways so the whole branch landed at the same time and not on end where it would have came through the roof. Two large branches got tangled in the wires.

Half the branches on the tree in my front yard and half the branches from the tree in my backyard are laying on the ground. The town came and cut the branches from the wires on Wednesday. The city opened up a park near my house so people could bring all the branches and tree limbs and get their yards cleaned up. It's going to take about a goof 15 truck loads back and forth to get rid of ours. The bigger pieces we will keep for firewood.

We finally got our power back on Friday November 4th. Needless to say it has been a very long, cold week.
