Etegami Style ATCs'

Good Morning,

Today I want to share the ATCs I made for a swap at "The Art Colony". I signed up for this swap because I have never heard of Etegami painting before and thought I would like to take a shot at it. Etegami is a Japanese folk art consisting of simple hand-painted drawings accompanied by a few words and a signature/symbol stamp in a red/orange color. When painting in the Etegami style you hold the paint brush at the top of the brush with your thumb and index finger. The clumsier the  better. Etegami painting is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I had very little control of the brush  technique when holding the brush the proper way for Etegami painting, my fingers kept wanting to hold the brush the way I would normally so half of my concentration was holding the brush correctly. I used Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Water Resistant Artist Ink and Crayola Water Paints. That's what I had on hand, not the traditional materials used with this type of painting but it worked. I made my signature stamp with a piece of linoleum left over from our camper floor. It worked pretty good. (I have a piece about 6ft x 2ft so I may be using it to make some more of my own stamps) So here's what I came up with.......

I was not very happy with the outcome when I had finished the paintings, but once they dried and I added the simple words and the signature symbol they grew on me. I may just have to give it another try.

My 1st ATC

Good Morning,

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. The best part is for me is spending time with family.

This morning I wanted to share my first ATC card that I have up for trade at atcforall.com. I used

Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Water Soluable Crayons to create this landscape. I had a lot of fun blending the colors. I think I'm going to start using these wather color crayons more often. I will be making tons of these ATCs. They are so cute and you get a finished project in a very short time.

Let me know what you think....

We Can Make This Happen! Please Read To The End.

Hi everyone,

This morning while I was checking my Facebook account I came across the below post. It's so heartbreaking to see a sick child suffer. If we can make this little boys dream come true, wouldn't you like to help.

Everyone, let's make a little boy's dream come true. His name is Dalton Dingus, age 9. He has stage 4 Cystic Fibrosis & has very little time left to live. His only wish before he dies is to get in the World Record book for receiving the most Christmas cards. Dalton's address is HC 62 Box 1249 Salyersville KY 41465
Send this little boy a Christmas Card!!please reshare this on your facebook and flood the internet with this so everyone can see and participate.

I googled Guiness Record for Christmas Cards and came accross this post listing information about Daltons Dream....

http://wtvr.com/2012/12/11/dalton-guiness-record/

This is just part of the above post....

News station WKYT reports that the current record is 35,000 and Dalton currently has 23,000 cards.Recently the Morehead State University softball team spent Friday afternoon collecting Christmas cards. No one has asked for money to be sent, just a Christmas card.

If each person who reads this passes it on to a few of their friends and those friends do the same we can make this happen for Dalton. What do you say. Will you help this little boy make his dream come true.

I would like to share the card I made for him.

This is the front of the card.

This is the inside of the card.

Simple and sweet and one more card closer to his goal.

Another Challenge

Good Morning,

Today I will be working on a project to enter in the challenge over at "The Craft Garden" http://thecraftgarden.blogspot.com/

The challenge is to take inspiration from this picture and create a project.

I decided to make a  card and try to replicate the flower by quilling. I was going to use the flower all by itself in the center of the card It did not come out as I intended it to, so I just added other elements to collage the  the card. I used the green, white and yellow from the picture. Here's how my card came out.

What do you think? Can you see the inspiration?

Christmas Mini x two

Good Eveing,

Tonight I wanted to share two mini albums I made for two sisters. I thought this might be cute for them to add some pictures of school friends and family. I left it pretty simple figuring the girls can add some more embellishments.
